You shouldn’t get carried away, or obsessive about cholesterol. As you do actually require cholesterol and fats to keep your health in order. The only thing in question are the amounts of fats and cholesterol. So, bear in mind, that fats and cholesterol are needed. The only question is how much, and of what type (as discussed earlier in this article). Cholesterol is used to build the walls of cells throughout the body and to manufacture essential substances like hormones and vitamin D. And therefore, you can clearly see how important Cholesterol is. The only question is of what type, and how much! Ok. So, if cholesterol has all these ‘health benefits’, why are we trying to reduce it? The answer to this question is simple. Having a ‘healthy’ amount of cholesterol is good for you. But as the blood cholesterol levels go above 200 milligrams per deciliter, then there is a much greater chance of heart problems and other health complications. And therefore taking steps to lower cholesterol quickly and naturally should be high on your agenda.

  Experiencing higher total blood cholesterol evidently puts you at greater risk of heart disease. But, many times heart attacks, bypass surgeries, angioplasties, and sudden cardiac deaths occur in people with a total cholesterol level below 200mg/dL. Hmm, interesting. So why does that happen?

Well, the answer is that we have to consider our LDL vs HDL Levels. Hence a better way to estimate risk of heart disease is to actually know the ratio of total cholesterol and bad cholesterol to good cholesterol.Statistics can sometimes be deceptive! Instead, you have to make sure you have a grip on the numbers so that lowering cholesterol can become a reality.

The unfortunate truth is that most folk are not even aware that they have atherosclerosis (build up on the artery walls) until it causes them to have a stroke or heart attack. It is possible to have up to 80 percent closure of the arteries without ever feeling a single symptom! Cholesterol is a big problem because you are starting to develop atherosclerosis build up from when you are just a child. So all adults need to be aware of the potential dangers of plaque build up (caused by such factors as high LDL Cholesterol)

So make sure you understand fully about the benefits of cholesterol lowering foods. And get the knowledge ahead of time to reduce your cholesterol BEFORE it becomes a problem.
