I have a little furry friend who reminds me of some people who try to be tough and act like they could care less if someone cares about them. Her name is Sugar and she is the cutest little grey cat I’ve have ever had. The mother cat was young when the four little ones were born and of course I helped in the delivery. It was Valentine’s Day one year ago and I was only home on the weekend and it appeared that Kitty Girl knew it was Saturday, so she decided it was time. I picked Sugar to be mine, because she was so furry and cute; different, but unpredictable , Sugar did not pick me. She endures me at times; but she did not pick me. She doesn’t like a lot of loving and she simply wants to be left alone. Not like her brother Blackie, because he will come to mommy every night to say good night before retiring. Blackie is just as black as Sugar is grey. Sugar possessesReluctancejust like us humans.

Blackie unlike his sister; he loves to be rubbed, petted and shows his affection. Sugar looks for the highest things to jump upon to sleep usually; just to get out of the way and not be bothered. She does love to find mommy drinking tea and wants some of it but as a general rule; only seldom does she come around to be stroked or rubbed. She will tolerate it sometimes but you wonder if she is actually gritting her teeth wishing I would quit. People with this same attitude appear to have Anxiety just like Sugar.

My question now is, haven’t you seen people like this? I have and it seems that children are the same way. They are all dissimilar and like different things but when it is all said and done, they will accept a mother’s love, most of the time. Some people do not want another person touching them in any fashion. Hands off, leave me alone; get the heck out of my sight. You know who they are.

I do not think it is not that they actually want to be left alone. I think it is actually a cover and they have needs in which they cannot voice. I actually believe it goes deeper into the core of their being and they are actually longing for something they do not already have. This is not proven by me, it is my perceptions. They want to appear they are without desire ; they are self sufficient and they can handle whatever comes their way. It seems that sometimes these individuals are afraid to let go and care about something or someone strong enough and had rather appear that are fully capable of making life without any interference from anyone.

Sugar seems pretty steady in her actions. Some people are the same way; nothing seems to avert their actions and they would die before they let you know they have a need. I don’t think Sugar is going to change. We humans can change if we see the need.

In my study of human nature and some human needs I found out that we humans have the same basic need. Appreciation, respect, recognition and love to mention a few. Sometimes we want to deny our dependence on any of these human emotions but let someone rub us the wrong way and be insulting or show no appreciation for our efforts in whatever we are doing….it then comes to life. Some people have needs that are stronger than others, some more often than others and some too often as they produce unsuitable
behaviors; but usually at some point in our life we have these needs. Denying ourselves the ability to show human love, care, affection, friendship or kinship is denying we are human and without the characteristics we were intended to have. These are blessings; not a cursing, because there is nothing more wonderful than having someone to care, appreciate, respect and love who we are and us have the same feeling in return be it friend, family or acquaintance.
